Decades of Dedication
For over 35 years, Gloria Mercado-Fortine has dedicated her career to education and civic service. As a lifelong resident of Santa Clarita, she brings deep roots and a proven track record of leadership to District 2.
Education Leadership
With a career spanning more than three decades, Gloria has served as a teacher, principal, and district administrator. Her experience includes leadership roles at the LAUSD, where she oversaw 125 schools and a $200 million budget.
Hart District Impact
As a veteran of the William S. Hart Union HSD Governing Board, Gloria led the district through significant growth and transformation. She successfully passed Measure V and Measure SA bonds, resulting in the construction of six new schools and the largest modernization plan in district history.
Community Service
Her civic commitment extends beyond the classroom. Gloria is a founding member of the Castaic Town Council and has led major community initiatives like the SCV Relay for Life and Daffodil Days. She is also a founding member of the American Cancer Society in the SCV.
